Kiyomi Spinedi

Stella Rosangela Kiyomi Spinedi (Mendrisio, 1999) is a Swiss artist, performer and cultural operator. Her practice, deeply rooted in artistic transdisciplinarity, explores the interaction between function and the empathic body. Her works react to invisible habits, rules and conditions that the artist translates into raw situations, suggesting the potential for action. The artistic process, which takes its pulse from a challenge, passes through physical confrontation with materials, highlighting their honesty and sensuality. She has inherited a deep connection to craftsmanship, constituting a major influence in her practice. Both her family history and her immersion in traditionally male-dominated crafts have led the artist to critically confront gender roles, a theme that subtly emerges throughout her work.

She obtained a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (2021), followed by a Master’s in Contemporary Arts Practice (2023) at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. Her works and performances have been presented in venues such as KASKO Basel, Pasquart/Espace Libre/La Voirie in Biel, Kunsthalle Bern, EAC Les Halles in Porrentruy, Espacio Nivel 2 in San Miguel de Tucumán (AR), La Rada Locarno, Espace Annexe Terrain Gurzelen in Biel and many more. She recently obtained a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Cultural Policies (2025) from CSI, SUPSI and Fondazione Fitzcarraldo.
